I have been trying for years to find a moisturizer that actually works. I have very dry skin on my face and it seems that after I wash it, any moisturizer stings and causes red blotches to my face. As you get older, however, your skin becomes thinner and more protection is needed. So with that in mind, I went on a moisturizer hunt to see what was out there for me.
I started with Vaseline Intensive Care and got through two applications before I was screaming to take it off. That was awful. Then I went to Aveeno. I have heard a great deal about it and I actually used it for a few months. My face was still stinging but not as bad as Vaseline, but I shouldn’t have to deal with any stinging. Then Cetaphil was recommended to me and I tried that. Damn expensive for nothing. It had the same effect as Vaseline. Another one bites the dust!. So I thought, maybe I need to get away from Shoppers Drug Mart and upscale my research. I was at the Bay, and saw Clinique. Ok, so here is the confession. I watched Legally Blonde and the entire product line at the University was Clinique. Well, let’s give that a go. I went to the clinician and told her my plight. She recommended a cleanser for really dry skin and then a moisturizer that helped with redness and sensitivity. I ended up spending $75 all told. The verdict? It was amazing. The cleanser had no soap in it and it felt like a moisturizer but you wash it off. Then I applied the moisturizer and wow! no stinging. In fact when I had a really bad cold in February and my nose could compete with Rudolph, there was still no stinging, even with broken skin from rubbing. I now use the cleanser and moisturizer every day. Its a heavy moisturizer just so you know. If you are not used to feeling creams on your skin, you will feel this one, but its soothing and not tight. I can smile without looking like crazing on antique dolls. I am really happy with this product and like the monkeys say, I’m a believer!.
